Vermont Peace Academy (VPA) nourishes the spirit of peace
and prepares people with the skills, knowledge and attitude
necessary to be responsible peacemakers. We encourage
the teaching, learning and practice of respect and responsibility,
as a vehicle for both individual and cultural transformation.

Vermont students and teachers will
join Vermont Peace Academy's trip to attend UN peace
day in New York City on September 18, 2009.
International Day of
Peace Commemoration
Central Vermont:
Sept.
20, 11:30 am-1:30 pm: UN Peace Day Celebration: Vermont
Yoga Festival, Vermont College Gym, Montpelier. Free admission. Receive
a peace tree seedling.
Sept. 20, 12:45-2 pm: Interview
of David J. Smith, author of If the World Were a Village & If
America were a Village on WGDR. Call in with your questions, 454-7762.
Sept. 21: Visit Montpelier High
School classes throughout the school day, listening to students'
thoughts and interactions about world peace. Call Harris Webster
(223-7399) for details & to sign up
to attend one or more of these exciting classes.
Sept.
21, Noon: Barre & Montpelier. Community churches will
ring bells for world peace; on 9/20 many will have a
special service to commemorate International Day of Peace.
Sept.
21, Noon-1 pm: Pocket park at Christ Church, State Street:
Sharing of peace readings, peace songs, & peace art; writing
peace messages to put on the Peace Sculpture in front
of the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Receive a peace tree seedling.
Sept. 21, 2-6 pm: Montpelier, Bethany United Church of Christ. The
public is invited to walk the labyrinth and meditate
for peace in the chapel.
Sept. 21, 5-6 pm: Montpelier,Unitarian
Church. Peace Corps & Vermont
Peace Academy join together for a presentation facilitated
by Antonio Francesco, a returned volunteer from Senegal,
West Africa.
Sept. 21, 6:00 pm: Montpelier, Christ
Church, State Street, Candlelight walk with peace readings, song,
and music all along the river. David Budbill will play the Japanese
flute. Please meet in the front of the church. Sponsored by Vermont
Peace Academy and Central Vermont churches.
