VPA is delighted to invite friends of the Vermont Peace Academy to
join with SPIRAL for our inaugural trip to China in April of 2012.
The fifteen-day journey will begin in Beijing and end in Shanghai
with an exciting itinerary which includes visits to the famous Terra
Cotta Soldiers, Great Wall, and Forbidden Palace. We will also
cruise along the Yangtze River for three days and visit Three
Gorges Dam site.
The highlight of the trip will be a home-stay with Chinese families
whose children came to New England in 2010 as part of SPIRAL's
ongoing cultural and educational programs. This opportunity will
give us a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and the opportunity
to develop and strengthen personal bonds. While most
visitors to China only have the chance to see the tourist sites,
SPIRAL's trip hopes to forge relationships in the mission of peace
and understanding across cultures.
SPIRAL trip leaders are long-time China experts with in-depth
experience about the country and its culture. They're passionate
about sharing their knowledge and will help to open doors to an
exceptional experience. Accomodations will be comfortable and all
food and travel, from the moment the trip commences in Beijing
until it's conclusion in Shanghai, is included. The price for the tour
is $2,980 and does not include airfare from the U.S., or gratuities.
In addition, the tour will officially end in Shanghai and travellers
may return to the U.S., directly, or choose to spend more time
exploring the country and return from Beijing.
